A faster platform, deeper integrations, and a better experience

Matt Sornson

Over the past few months, we've been modernizing the foundations of Mastery.org.

Making the platform faster, connecting it to the systems members already use, and beginning a broader design refresh.

A learner profile with credit distribution and transcript actions

First, Mastery is now 3× faster.

We've made substantial improvements to the underlying platform, delivering a threefold increase in speed. You'll notice the difference as you navigate between pages, work with learner records, and manage competencies and evidence.

Second, Mastery is building key integrations with the tools you already use.

We're excited to welcome Headrush as our newest integration, joining a growing ecosystem that includes Canvas, Google Classroom, Blackbaud, PowerSchool, Beacon Learning, and Richer Picture.

More exciting, syncing assignments and evidence from your LMS is now in Beta. Making it possible to bring the work students are already doing into their learning records. This is an important step toward making the Mastery Transcript a natural byproduct of learning, rather than another administrative task.

We've made integrations easier to configure. School administrators can connect supported systems themselves via Edlink by visiting the new Integrations page (found in the left sidebar).

No need to manually configure with someone from our team!

Roster imports are smarter, too. You can choose which spreadsheet tab to import, search and review records more easily, and catch data problems before they interrupt an import. Student names also stay aligned with your SIS as records are updated or changed.

Third, we're rethinking how Mastery looks and feels.

We've begun a larger effort to make Mastery not just more powerful, but genuinely delightful to use.

The first improvements are already live: cleaner navigation, a lighter interface, more consistent tables and menus, better-organized account controls, and a refreshed Progress Tracker experience.

We've also improved everyday workflows, including filtering learners by multiple graduation years or courses, navigating competency records, revising imported evidence, and searching and exploring colleges.

Where we're headed

All of these improvements are part of a larger direction for Mastery.org.

We want schools to be able to connect their existing systems, bring together the evidence of what students know and can do, and turn that learning into a trusted, portable record with as little additional work as possible.

A faster platform, deeper integrations, and a better experience are the foundations for making that possible.

Special thanks to David Panush @ Edmund Burke School, Sisto Pina @ Maritime High School, Mike Hourahine @ Headrush, Wynce Low @ Axcel International School, and Scott Keck @ Christian Brothers College High School for sending in feedback that helped us improve the tools!

Keep telling us what to build next at feedback.mastery.org.

Sincerely,

Matt and the Mastery.org team
